Last updated 16 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Menucurist Ltd ("Menucurist", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and looks after personal data when you usemenucurist.com,menucurist.co.uk, or related waitlist and marketing communications.
We are a UK company. For UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, Menucurist Ltd is the controller of personal data described in this policy. Contact us athello@menucurist.co.uk.
What this site does today
The public website is primarily a marketing site for Menucurist's early access programme. You may browse product information, read guides, and join a waitlist (including receiving a free checklist for hospitality operators). Guest-facing venue menus and full product accounts, if and when offered, may be covered by additional notices at the point of collection.
Personal data we may collect
Information you give us
- Waitlist and contact details, such as your email address (and any name or venue details you choose to include in a message).
- Correspondence if you emailhello@menucurist.co.uk.
Information collected automatically
- Technical and usage data typical of website hosting, such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and approximate location derived from IP (where our hosting or analytics providers process this).
- Cookie or similar technology data, if we use essential cookies for the site to function, or optional analytics cookies where you have consented (see Cookies below).
We do not ask you to submit special category data (such as health or allergy information) through this marketing site. Do not include sensitive personal data about yourself or others in waitlist or contact forms unless we expressly ask for it for a clear purpose.
Venue menu and allergen data
When venues use Menucurist to manage menus, they remain fully responsible for the accuracy of allergen and ingredient information they enter or upload. We use that information to present personalised, filterable menus for guests. We do not verify, check or guarantee the accuracy of venue-supplied data. How we process personal data in a live product environment may be described in additional notices at the point of collection.
How we use personal data
We use personal data to:
- Operate and secure the website and our hosting infrastructure.
- Manage the early access waitlist and send related updates you have asked for (including the free checklist where offered).
- Respond to enquiries and provide customer support.
- Improve the site and understand aggregate traffic (where analytics are enabled).
- Comply with legal obligations and protect our legitimate interests.
Legal bases
Depending on the activity, we rely on:
- Consent, for example optional marketing emails or non-essential cookies, where required.
- Contract or steps prior to a contract, where we process data to respond to a request you make.
- Legitimate interests, such as securing the site, preventing abuse, and understanding how the marketing site is used, balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligation, where the law requires us to retain or disclose data.
Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time (for example by unsubscribing from emails or contacting us). Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out lawfully.
Sharing personal data
We may share personal data with trusted service providers who process it on our instructions, such as website hosting (including Cloudflare), email or waitlist tools, and analytics providers if used. We do not sell your personal data.
We may also disclose data if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of Menucurist, our users or others.
International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we take steps required under UK data protection law, such as using appropriate transfer mechanisms (for example the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or addendum, or an adequacy regulation).
Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above. Waitlist and enquiry records are retained while the early access programme is active and for a reasonable period afterwards, unless you ask us to delete them sooner and we have no overriding legal reason to keep them. Hosting and security logs are kept for shorter operational periods.
Cookies
We may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies to run the site. If we use optional analytics or marketing cookies, we will seek consent where required and provide controls appropriate to UK law. You can also control cookies through your browser settings.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you may have the right to:
- Access your personal data.
- Rectify inaccurate data.
- Request erasure in certain circumstances.
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Data portability, where applicable.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise these rights, emailhello@menucurist.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) atico.org.uk.
Children
This site is aimed at hospitality businesses and professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you should review the revised policy.
