The Service Bottleneck

The Kitchen Run

A customer asks about an ingredient. A member of staff leaves the floor to check with the kitchen. The table waits. Service slows, reassurance drops, and the customer feels like a burden, and often retreats to the safest option on the menu. Multiply that by every dish, every allergy, every table, and it happens all over again.

The Menucurist Experience

Confident Dining

Guests open your menu on their phone, or a tablet from your team, no app needed. They say what to avoid, allergens or anything else, and see a curated menu of what they can eat. They order with certainty, and your staff stay on the floor.

Half the room is already asking.

Dietary needs are common. Fixed allergen lists are not enough. Guests need a menu that answers them.

can be excluded in any combination the guest chooses, from garlic to kiwi to strawberries, well beyond a fixed government checklist.

How it works

Hospitality-first simplicity.

01

Add your menu once

Build your menu from ingredients, not just dishes. Structure it this way, and one change can update it everywhere it's used, instead of editing every dish by hand.

02

Guests scan a QR code

Guests specify the ingredients they want to avoid, any number or combination, and get a personally curated menu of dishes they can safely order. Not limited to the UK's 14 regulated allergens: any ingredient can be excluded.

Your team serves with confidence

Zero friction between the guest and the venue. Guests feel looked after from the moment they sit down, and your team stays focused on what they do best. Hospitality.

Why we built it

A note from our co-founder.

“My daughter is allergic to kiwi. It isn't on the government's list of 14, so almost no menu accounts for it. Every meal out meant the same anxious questions. Menucurist is the tool I wished every venue had.”

Why Menucurist

Built for every customer. Not just the easy ones.

Built around ingredients, not a checklist. They choose what to avoid. You show what they can safely order.

01 · Coverage

Any ingredient, any combination, entirely the guest's choice.

Other allergen software is built around the UK's 14 regulated allergens. We're built around ingredients, and it's the guest who decides what to exclude. Garlic, kiwi, strawberries, or anything else they need to avoid is treated with the same care as a peanut or a nut.

GarlicKiwiStrawberriesVeganGluten-freeor anything else…

Guests pick any number of exclusions, in any combination, plus anything else in their own words. Nothing here is fixed by us or the venue: it's entirely their call.

02 · Personalised

Every customer sees their menu.

Not a matrix of warnings. Guests tell us what to avoid and instantly see what's safe to order as it is, and what the kitchen can make safe for them, all in seconds.

03 · Efficiency

Update once, updated everywhere.

Your dishes are built from shared ingredients, not repeated from scratch. Change an ingredient once, and every dish using it updates with it, no going back to re-edit each one by hand.

04 · Future-proof

Written allergen info, ready if the rules change.

Natasha's Law already requires clear allergen labelling on prepacked food. Owen's Law is a growing campaign to extend that same standard to verbal allergen information given in restaurants and venues. Menucurist covers the 14 regulated allergens and any other ingredient a guest needs to avoid, so you're ready whichever way the rules move.

Loyalty, not liability

Turn dietary needs into your best customers.

When guests can see exactly what they can eat, they stop defaulting to the safest option and start ordering with confidence. That's not a one-off upsell; it's a guest who knows they're safe here, and comes back every week because of it.

FAQ

Questions venues ask first.

Who is responsible for allergen and ingredient accuracy?

You are fully responsible for the accuracy of the allergen and ingredient information you provide. Menucurist turns that information into a personally curated digital menu for each guest. We do not verify, check or guarantee the accuracy of your data.

Do guests need to download an app?

No. Guests open your menu in a browser on their phone, or your team can open it on a tablet. There is nothing to download or install.

Is this only for the UK's 14 regulated allergens?

No. The 14 regulated allergens are covered for compliance, but guests can exclude any ingredient they need to avoid, in any combination. Garlic, kiwi, strawberries, or anything else they choose is treated with the same care.

How do guests open the menu?

Two ways. Guests can scan a QR code on their own device, or your team can bring up the same personally curated menu on a tablet. Both show a curated menu of dishes that guest can safely order.

Why not just rely on staff to tell guests about allergens?

Verbal allergen advice depends on a member of staff remembering correctly, every time, under pressure. Menucurist removes that risk: every guest gets the same accurate, written answer, whether it's a quiet Tuesday lunch or a packed Saturday night. Legislation already requires venues to be able to provide this information on request; Menucurist just makes it consistent and reliable, every time.

Does this help with FSA guidance and Owen's Law?

Yes. Menucurist is built around the same principle Owen's Law is pushing for: clear, written allergen information for every dish, not just verbal reassurance. If Owen's Law becomes a legal requirement, you'll already be there. It helps you present that information clearly, without replacing your duty to keep it accurate.

What happens when a recipe or ingredient changes?

Your dishes are built from shared ingredients, not repeated from scratch. Change an ingredient once, and every dish using it updates with it, no going back to re-edit each one by hand. You remain responsible for making sure the information you enter is accurate and up to date.

Will this cut down allergen questions during service?

Absolutely. Guests see a personally curated menu of what they can safely order before they even ask, so your team spends far less time on kitchen runs and interruptive ingredient checks. It also reassures guests that their allergies are being taken seriously from the moment they sit down, which is exactly the kind of experience that brings them back.

Can we white label the guest menu?

Yes. White labelling is available so the guest-facing menu can carry your venue branding, rather than Menucurist's. Ask us about options when you join the waitlist.
